My self portrait!
Raquel Pablos
Raquel Pablos is a mixed media artist whose work transforms discarded materials into textured, luminous compositions.
Working with recycled coffee capsules, acrylic, and resin, she builds her pieces layer by layer. She cuts, shapes, and reassembles waste into artworks that evoke waves, light, and movement.
Her practice sits between painting and sculpture. From a distance, her works read as fluid, almost dreamlike compositions: skies in motion, shifting seas, radiant horizons. Up close, they reveal a meticulous construction of folded metal, intricate patterns, and hand-painted detail. The process is slow and deliberate, and that effort remains visible in the final piece.
Influenced by the natural landscapes of Ireland, particularly the meeting of sea and sky, Raquel’s work explores transformation: of materials, of light, and of perception.
The use of recycled elements is not just a statement on sustainability, but a core part of her art's visual language itself. Her work invites the viewer to look twice and to reconsider where beauty can be found.
